Make Your Own Colorful Collage Papers

I like to make my own colorful tissue papers for collage art and it's super easy to do! The trick is to use Wet Strength Tissue Paper to get great results. Use it flat or crinkle the paper first before applying paint to get extra movement in the final results.

Acrylic painted Wet Strength Tissue Paper. Some of the sheets have spots from applying chunky salt when the paints are wet, then allowing them to dry.

It helps to start with fluid or very flowy acrylic paints to which you can even add a little water. Note that you can also add Acrylic AirBrush or Flow Medium to tube paints to help them become more water-like, but not loose their ability to adhere to the paper. You may notice a lot of paint wash away when you rinse your newly dried paper if too much plain water was added to the paint.

Here’s a YouTube 1 minute Short I did showing this process: https://youtube.com/shorts/ZVPafymbshg?si=BR3_98XMD5btJgvP

I hope this quick tip helps other artists out there. πŸ–‹οΈπŸ˜
