In this article, I show different ways to use the Caran d’Ache NeoColor II water soluble crayons!
They can be used as stiff wax pastel under-layers or use for expressive marks on top layers. Then, when blended with water or water-based acrylic mediums, these crayons create magical diffused color.
Such a blast… even adults can have fun with crayons!

Here’s a great video by artist Helen Cryer about creating with NeoColor II paints in a palette like gouache or opaque watercolor where shavings are used with water to create paint in a pan or palette well. Brilliant!
